    This study was conducted to provide a criterion for enhancing the understanding of learners in online graduate school classes by suggesting what characteristics they show in the process of adaptation to the online learning experiences of college students. To this end, in this study, a qualitative study was conducted on 7 graduate students who are conducting online studies. In order to select subjects deemed suitable for the purpose of the study, participants were selected according to the intentional sampling method, and in-depth interviews were conducted. The data were analyzed according to the qualitative research analysis procedure. The research results are as follows. The central phenomenon of the online learning adaptation process of graduate students was found to be โ€˜negative gaze due to anxiety, frustration, and isolationโ€™. In addition, the core categories that can comprehensively explain the relationship between the categories related to online academic adaptation of graduate students are โ€˜creating a new academic platform where you need to do a daily job, getting tiredโ€™, and โ€˜stable effort with a central point through accidental experiences, positivityโ€™. In the long-term online lectures, there are three types of expectation for study: the type that vaguely desires face-to-face lectures, and the type that changes the goal setting of graduate school study by coldly judging that face-to-face lectures will be difficult for a while. It turns out that there are adaptive audiences who are more immersed in research due to fewer activities. Based on these research results, graduate students can be used as basic data for student understanding to design educational programs suitable for online learning environments.
