    This study was a descriptive research study to identify the influencing factors on depression in student nurses. Data were collected from nursing students in three different universities in B and Y City, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Depression of the participants showed statistical differences according to grade, health status, sleeping hours, clinical practice experience, academic performance, satisfaction with major, satisfaction with university life, and interpersonal relationship. Depression was negatively correlated with positive psychological capital (r=-.551, p<.001) and social support (r=-.365, p<.001). The factors affecting depression were positive psychological capital (¦Â=-.397, p<.001), health status (¦Â=-.207, p<.001), satisfaction with university life (¦Â=-.185, p=.002), and sleeping hours (¦Â=-.144, p=.006), explaining 38.2% of the total variance of depression. Therefore, to prevent or manage depression in student nurses, it is necessary to develop and implement active educational strategies promoting positive psychological capital, health status, and satisfaction with university life. Support and education need to be provided to equip student nurses with adequate time management strategies for promoting sufficient sleeping hours.
