This research has established its purpose in teaching Korean literature to Chinese learners in the connections between Korean and Chinese literatures.
The selection process of literary works mainly involved survey questionnaires.
For Korean piece Jingeon Hyun¡¯s <A Lucky Day> and for Chinese piece Lao She¡¯s Camel Xiangzi were selected to analyze the literary emotion of ¡®irony¡¯ and suggest its teaching approach.
The prerequisites which a reader may require to accommodate and articulate on foreign literary works incorporate linguistic expression and some sense of socio-cultural context and experience. As such, various types of expressions of irony were examined in the literary works of <A Lucky Day> and Camel Xiangzi including linguistic expression of irony, situational irony in terms of socio-cultural perspective, and irony of literary emotion. The linguistic expression of irony in <A Lucky Day> is its keywords, ¡®A lucky day¡¯, as ¡®Camel Xiangzi¡¯ is for Camel Xiangzi , where the epithet ¡®Camel Xiangzi¡¯ implies the irony in reputation and honor. In socio-cultural context, Cheomji Kim is illustrated in <A Lucky Day> as a leading head of a family, whereas in Camel Xiangzi Xiangzi¡¯s life is illustrated in personal and narrative form. 'The seolleongtang' in <A Lucky Day> and ¡®the rickshaw¡¯ in Camel Xiangzi both are the emotional expressions derived from literary experience. Such ironies are expressed in both works as a rhetorical device in which what appears on the surface differs greatly from what is actually the case. In <A Lucky Day> ¡®money¡¯ and ¡®family¡¯ are in conflicting relationship, and in Camel Xiangzi the events of gaining and losing ¡®the rickshaw¡¯ on the surface is conveyed as a process of losing one¡¯s ¡®face¡¯.
Based on these findings, this research conducted comparative literary method to <A Lucky Day> and Camel Xiangzi and proposed teaching-learning approach to expressing the literary emotion of ¡®irony¡¯ following the educational models of emotional expressions including socio-cultural, psychological and literary emotions.
