    Sunsuhaeng(¶UÐÞÐÐ) is still performed today in forms of Sunbangsuhaeng(¶U·¿ÐÞÐÐ) and Togulsuhaeng(ÍÁ¿ßÐÞÐÐ). Although Sunbangsuhaeng and Togulsuhaeng differ in the place and life, they have common in that they find one's own problems with one's own issues. In education, there should be a person who raises autonomous self-questions. That one finds his problems is self-discovery. Only someone who discovered himself could experience self-realization. Without the process of self-realization, our school education could not be free from mere acquisition of knowledge or skills for acquiring knowledge, and students could not have opportunities for learning wisdoms and skills for their lives and would be subsumed to others or society. There is nothing more important than reflecting one's life seriously, reflecting self, and deliberating essential value of studying. Unless they think about the reason why they study, students would blindly follow existing value held by the society. The result of that would be students study not to realize self and be a holy man, but to reach to social success. Study without self has no power to impose meaning.
    Educational purpose is oriented to value. The value is fundamental and core one that human beings should internalize. However, overall belief in our society values good grade and emphasizes instrumental value of education for entering prestigious schools which is considered pre-stage for well-paid jobs. As a result, parents and society exacerbate competition in which students do not regard others. Such a competition would bring up a selfish person and in turn, the person would be caught in vicious cycle to be subordinated to mammonism, without enjoying valuable life. Therefore, we should teach students to reflect their lives continuously either in school or home. Only when they give careful consideration on their meaningful future, they could find meaning and interest and be an active agent in studying, by deciding direction to which they proceed and impose value on it.
