    The scholars of the Gyeonggi-Hoseo(Giho) area followed Yulgok Yi Yi as a grand master and use his theory as a standard. However, his followers such as Kim Jang-saeng and his son Kim Jib were not only studied at Yulgok school but also at Song Ik-pil and Seong Hon at the same time. Song and Seong close friends of Yulgok who shared thoughts and learning throughout their lives. Samhyunsugan(ÈýÙtÊÖº†), the compilation of the letters exchanged by these three figures, shows that their lives and learning are closely related. We can see not only their friendship in detail through Samhyunsugan, but also see the fierce discussion among them about the theories such as Ye(¶Y), Sadan-chiljeong(ËÄ¶ËÆßÇé), and Insim-dosim(ÈËÐĵÀÐÄ).
    The neo-confucian theory of Giho school is not that the theory of Yulgok had been exclusively handed down without arguments, but it seems that Song and Seong also had passed down their ideas revealed in the process of arguments. This paper examines the formation of the neo-confucian theory of the Giho school in the 16th century by examining the characteristics of their symbiosis and scholarship, focusing mainly on Song Ik-pil and Seong Hon. By taking an inductive method that reveals the characteristics of their doctrine through Samhyunsugan it is possible to elaborate more specifically the formation process of the neo-confucian theory of Giho school.
