Developing Integrated Model for Creativity Measurement

This study was to investigate the relationship between creative thinking ability and creative personality of preschoolers. There were research results that showed the correlation coefficient between creative thinking ability and creative personality of over-teenagers was very low (Hah, 1999). We assumed, however, that this relation for preschoolers would be influenced by sex and age variable and the validation of test. We supposed these prior results would change if subjects were sampled from a much younger stage and testing instruments to measure creative thinking ability and creative personality were developed and validated.
We first developed and validated ¡°Integrated Creativity Test (ICT) items¡± which consisted of two parts - creative thinking ability test and creative personality test.
About 1,000 preschoolers who were 4 to 5 years old, were sampled nationwide to verify the relationship between creative thinking ability and creative personality. Then ICT was administered. The relations between creative thinking ability and creative personality was analyzed according to total scores and each factor. Creative thinking ability and creative personality were analyzed according to sex and age.
We believe our results will give some implications to identify gifted children and to develop educational programs for gifted /talented children.
