This paper presents the findings of a study that involved visiting and conducting interviews at two key historical institutions in Berlin: the Potsdam Institute for Contemporary History and the Humboldt University¡¯s Digital History Research Center. Humboldt University has demonstrated its achievements by applying various digital history analysis methodologies to actual research, while the Potsdam Institute for Contemporary History focuses more on the dissemination of academic outputs through digital media.
The German historical academia is responding to the challenges of digitalization through long-term and collective efforts to connect digital history knowledge producers and consumers, integrate research institutions with information infrastructure, and bridge individual research outcomes. Given the risks of academic stagnation in the face of digitalization and the shift of human activities into cyberspace, it is evident that new historical analysis ¡ª combining datasets and code to address existing historical inquiries ¡ª is an unfamiliar yet inevitable challenge.
