This era is not of denying others, but is overflowing values to affirm, in a word, neural disorders from ¡®affirmative surpluses¡¯ arise as an age disease. ¡®Fatigue society¡¯ means pathological phenomena in current society, which is originated from affirmative surpluses, those have to accept others as a sign of self-maturity, after passing era of focusing self-identity which confronts to other¡¯s heterogeneity.
¡°Fatigue society¡± is characterized; the transferring phenomena from ¡°immunity nagativeness¡± to ¡°affirmative surplus¡±, from disciplined society to result-oriented society and from ¡®active society¡¯ to ¡®fatigue society¡¯. In ¡®fatigue society¡¯ man lost thoughtful life values then move to result-oriented life. So it is inevitable to face this psychological pathology phenomenon.
Religion is also facing the 2nd crisis in current ¡®fatigue society¡¯, because of weak faith immunity due to secularism. Confusion of doctrine interpretation which was adopted naturally in tradition troubled the believers what one should do in a world between church ethic rules and secular circumstance rules. Believers feel confusion, misunderstanding and difficulties to follow church rules. Recently, the common values of religion developed to stages of religion blending or religion pluralism, so the Christianity which was understood as to absolute norm is to be a relative concept or is shown as to opportunism that is mixed with other different religious sentiments.
As the fatigues from focusing result, charisma-oriented faith are increasing; it makes to fall to critical situation of becoming non-practicing believer or sarcastic belief because of ¡®mandatory systematized faith¡¯ or surpluses of charismatic activities. Another aspect is that the deficiencies of less thoughtful life style and healing experiences in Church in this result-oriented society. These act as to fatigue and burden factors, instead of joy and spiritual fullness of Christian life.
In this fatigue society, the restoration of Catholic ¡®faith sense¡¯ can be an important theological foundation to present future vision of religion education. ¡®Faith sense¡¯ means ¡°believer¡¯s sense of life direction¡±, ¡®faith sense¡¯ is ¡®faith perception organ sense of the believers that opens and preserves to the goal of transcendence, ¡®holy mystery¡¯, through their own perception and also that is the motivation to set up the faith. In ¡°Lumen Gentium¡±, Vatican Council II document, in Chapter 12, emphasized the importance of supernatural faith sense; ¡°Spirit of truth wake up and preserve it¡± when people of God perform the Christian prophetic ministry.
Each believer¡¯s ¡®sensus fidei¡¯ sympathizes and mutually responses with right history consciousness and society awareness. When they share religious horizon with others, it develops to ¡®sensus fidelium¡¯. And it can be concreted as to peculiar religious sensibility which Catholic faith has.
Catholic faith has universal ¡®comprehensive faith sense¡¯. This comprehensiveness catholicity has characteristics; integrate actively and embrace all human cultural assets as to God¡¯s signs of salvation; God¡¯s universal salvation is not limited to a certain culture, nation, race and a typical historic context. This includes ¡®inculturation¡¯, develops to various evangelical activities, gives the discernment ability against current problems of society, those are justice, human rights, life and environment in society. At the same time, the comprehensiveness of Catholic Christianity is manifested clearly in Ecumenical movement (with Protestants and Orthodox) and the dialogues with other religions in history.
Another special character of Catholic ¡®sensus fidei¡¯ is ¡°attractiveness of perfection¡± coming from Catholicity. Although Church have made mistakes in history, the true aspiration for perfection reveals clearly Church¡¯s continuing renewal power which shows continuous reforming shape of Church with consciousness and the humility of admitting her hierarchical errors and mistakes in history. The Eucharistic Communion mystery and the meaning of sacrament of confession manifest ¡®Catholic sensus fidei¡¯ well.
In this ¡®fatigue society¡¯, Church¡¯s intention for faith education should be defensive faith education against ¡®immune society¡¯ which emphasize injustice and heterogeneity against faith. Also pastoral proposals that can cure faith crisis derived from ¡®affirmative surpluses¡¯ should be enlightened and presented.
To do this following pastoral endeavors are required to restore ¡®Catholic sensus fidei¡¯. ¡®Restoration of faith sense¡¯ through ¡®intellectual conversion¡¯, comprehensive education to rediscover the Catholicity, Church efforts to restore the life of ascetic practices, acceptance of moving to contemplative cultural system which is escaped from result-oriented and the Church¡¯s role as the youth humanity education field. Here, spiritual sensibility education for the shepherds of the church to fulfill their fatigue and spiritual deficiencies is prerequisite.
In ¡®fatigue society¡¯ Catholic Christians are invited to confront to meaningless of secularization which make them exhausted, rather while sharing those weariness, joy and pain with community members they begin to reborn to new faith community through friendship.
