This thesis analyzes the distribution and patterns of trapezoid coffins in the 16th kingdom period and the Northern Wei period. The trapezoid coffin is a unique funeral custom of the Xianbei and Wuhuan People. The Xianbei-style trapezoid coffins in the Sixteen Kingdoms period were excavated from 43 sites in the Liaoxi and Liaodong regions, Yangdun, Zhaoyang, Chang��an, and the Corridor of Hexi. They were excavated in the commanderies of Hongnong, hedong, Jingzhao as well as Pengcheng, present Dadong, Shanzi Province, and Luoyang, the capital of Northern Wei. Not only Non-chinese people including Xianbei, Wuhuan, Xianbei and Wuhuan Xiongnu People, but also a sort of Chinese ruling-class, including Cui Yu, Fenf Sufo, Fei Jing, The Family of Zhou, Fang Xing used the Xianbei-style trapezoid coffins. The Xianbei-style grave goods were excavated from the tombs of Fei Jing and Fang Xing, which meant some persons of Chinese ruling-class were greatly influenced by the Xianbei culture and the culture of Western Region. This study breaks the stereotype that the Chinese people did not accept the culture of foreign peoples and that only the foreign peoples unilaterally accepted the Chinese culture during the period of the Sixteen Kingdoms and Northern Wei, and discovered and introduced the fact that the Chinese people also accepted the nomadic culture including Xianbei culture. It has research significance.
