This article studies the outlook on nature in Dongdasong, the best-known book on Korean tea ceremony, from the perspective of I Ching. There are many articles on Dongdasong but there are few based on the perspective of I Ching. This article is of the position that a study of I Ching needs to lay the foundation for a study of the outlook on nature because I Ching is the basis of the principles on the birth of the universe and the truth. Nature is life. It is in the harmony of the nature that life can be born. Within the nature, there is no life standing still, and all lives take different paths. Therefore, nature is where all lives pioneer their own paths. And, it is none other than I Ching that plays the role of an advisor in pioneering those paths. The principle of ¡®change¡¯ in I Ching can be deemed to have exerted absolute influence on Asian culture. So, one could argue that Asian philosophy does not deviate from the interpretations of I Ching. For study of the outlook on nature in Dongdasong from the perspective of I Ching, first of all, this article established the concepts of outlook on nature and I Ching, performed analysis in the three parts of union of man and nature-based outlook on nature, Yin-Yang and Wu Xing-based outlook on nature, and transcendent outlook on nature, and then conducted reinterpretation and evaluation from the perspective of I Ching. In a word, I Ching, when compared to human lives, allows us to learn the wisdoms of life, and when applied to the nature, allows us to master the laws of nature. I Ching signifies harmony through modesty and moderation, and harmony means none other than peace. Currently, people are shaken with fear due to conflict and confrontation arising from the global disharmony. We need to inform about ¡®rest¡¯ which can be ours with a cup of tea and the ¡®wisdom¡¯ of living life with the lessons of I Ching.
