    The essence of this study is to reflect the existing teaching method and to reconsider a role of the teacher that accords with a purpose of education, while the teacher at the first recalls the aims of education and practices not only for a liberal education but also for the learning.
    In the 1st chapter, this study has presented the condition of education in Korea that is impossible to have autonomous reading poetry. The portions of poetry that are analyzed by problem solution can be delivered to a learner by a subject, a form and a poetic device. Autonomous and creative reading poetry is necessary for a liberal education in a University, and to select autonomically a poem and to read can be reached to the soul of poetry by a poetic language that couldn¡¯t learn in reading poetry as a learner.
    In the 2nd chapter, it examined the needs for autonomous reading poetry and the meaning of education of poetry. While poetry can be red four steps of a work in composition within a brief time in life comparing with other classics and a literary work, it has a strong intellectual, emotional and philosophical stimulation for an individual. Due to what poetry are short and have higher autonomic of comprehension depending on the poet¡¯s design, or regardless of his design, it can make distorted values or a contorted view of the world that lean on the subjective and emotional agreement rather than the rational agreement in an individual or society.
    In the 3rd chapter, with ¡®the meaning of the soul of poetry as a liberal education¡¯, it showed that as poetry are the process of realization of the soul of poetry which finds a question for others and an answer, it makes a reader find an answer for a question of a poet while reading a poem, or reconsider their questions.
    In other words, one may learn an interest in the world that can be viewed on side of philosophy by a cultured person, not a specialist, through poetry that talks differently various life. In the 4th chapter, it has examined that ,during the liberal art course, such effort that tries to read the soul of poetry is possible to be built by cooperating with a teacher, as presenting an example of ¡®a real case for autonomous reading poetry and cultivation of the soul of poetry¡¯.
