This study explores the characteristics of a new citizenship for the 21st century and, discusses convergence education and smart education in terms of content and methodology for these civic education . To the underlying information society, pluralistic society, the global society for citizenship, �� intensifying competition, �� increasing the value of the virtual space, �� strengthening of trust as social capital, �� personalized and diversification spread , �� digital humanism were defined as the characteristics of future society. Based on this, �� digital social function, �� fusion-based contextual thinking, �� network participation skill, �� creative thinking were derived as attributes of new citizenships.
This study noted the core competencies of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills in the United States in order to discuss the correlation of citizenship cultivation and knowledge fusion, Through it, I established the logic that the fusion of knowledge is able to be effective for cultivating new citizenships For convergence education, contents and methodology were discussed in the pioneering dimension. In terms of contents, multiple representation, practice, non-structural were derived as the principles of content selection and configuration. In methodology, for effective implementation of multiple representation, practice, non-structural, hyperlink based smart education was explored.
