There has been quite a few research achievements in the academic circles on the grammatical meaning and pragmatic functions of the Verb-reduplication. In this paper, the writer takes the literature survey as main method, and takes structuralism linguistics theory and functional linguistics theory as the instruction, discusses the grammatical meaning and pragmatic functions of the Verb-reduplication through the following three ways: the grammatical meaning and pragmatic functions of the Chinese dialect, controllability, and Subjective-intention. So far, the academic study of Verb-reduplication mainly focuses on the basic grammatical meaning and pragmatic functions. In this paper, the writer tries to expand the space of studying the Verb-reduplication, and demonstrates the Verb-reduplication has its controllability and Subjective-intention, as well. The writer also looks forward to offer possible research on the differences of verb grammatical meaning and pragmatic functions in Chinese dialect, in order to remedy and perfect the study in this field.
