The purpose of this study is to analyze the previous studies applying heart rate variability research methodology that can quantitatively grasp the physiological response and stress level of the user due to environmental stimuli. For this purpose, 14 previous studies were analyzed into 8 items such as environmental stimulus, independent variables, dependent variables, number of subjects, analytical indicators, measurement time, experimental space, and data analysis method. Heart rate variability research has been in the spotlight in Korea for the past 10 years. It is a field in which research is being conducted by combining with various fields such as environmental science, architecture, and color science, beyond the existing psychiatry and psychology. As a suggestion for future research, first, it is desirable to derive broad and field-applicable research results by applying various experimental variables. Second, because the results of the analysis indicators sometimes conflict, in order to draw generalized conclusions, the researcher should have a clear criteria for selecting which analysis indicators to analyze through in-depth studies. Third, it seems necessary to experiment with subjects of different ages. Fourth, the statistical significance of the subject's experimental data is considered to be effective in deriving and applying the results.
