    This article aims to prove the necessity of self-directed writing skills and learning strategies for KAP (Korean for Academic Purpose) Students and to introduce the types of self-directed writing skills and strategies. Self-directed learning assumes that the human being grows in capacity and need to be self-directing as an essential component of maturing, and that this capacity should be nurtured to develop as rapidly as possible. Also self-directed learning helps the individual students take the initiative and the responsibility for the task performance, which means students select, manage, and assess their own learning activities. This feature of self-directed learning allows KAP students, who are in position that they should perform the writing tasks by themselves unlike KGP (Korean for General Purpose) students, have superior ability to solve the given problem. In this article, I will suggest self-directed writing skills and strategies in 3 factors; cognitive factor, behavioral factor, and motivational factor. The self-directed writing skills and strategies suggested in this article will help KAP students develop the KAP writing ability.
