여성의 갿�정폭력 가해 맥락에 관한 연구 (A study on the Context of Domestic Violence of Female Attackers)

본 연구는 갿�정폭력 피해자로 인식되던 여성들이 갿�정폭력 가해행위로 사법처벌을 받게 되어 갿�해여성으로 드러나기 시작하는 데에 주목하였다. 여성들이 갿�정폭력을 행사하는 복잡한 가해 맥락을 살펴보기 위해서 갿�정폭력행위자교정․치료프로그램 상담위탁 보호처분 명령을 받은 갿�해여성들과 심층면접을 진행하여 사례를 살펴보았다. 사법기관 공식보고서에 보고된 갿�해여성의 폭력행위에 대한 서술에서는 폭력상황에 대한 맥락을 이해하기에 부족한 부분이 있었다. 연구 결과, 갿�해여성들은 폭력피해경험과 폭력에 대한 허용도, 전통적인 성역할 고정관념, 결혼에 대해 성찰하지 않는 태도왿� 같은 네 가지 측면의 요인이 복합적으로 작용하여 폭력을 행사한 것으로 보인다. 갿�해여성들은 폭력피해경험으로 축적된 분노가 폭발하거나, 폭력피해상황에서 반격행위를 행사하면서 피해자에서 가해자로 변모하는 모습도 보였다. 습관적으로 폭력을 행사하는 남성들과 달리 여성들은 축적된 감정의 폭발과 폭력상황에서 대응으로서의 폭력행사가 이루어졌다.
본 연구를 토대로 갿�정폭력에서 여성과 남성의 갿�해맥락을 동일하게 보는 보편적인 관점에 대해 문제를 제기하고, 이후 갿�정폭력 갿�해여성에 대한 심층적인 연구가 진행되어 갿�정폭력에서 젠더에 따른 민감성이 반영될 것을 기대한다.

This study focuses on the increase of female attackers who receive judicial punishment while the majority of victims of domestic violence are still women.
I interviewed female attackers to identify the complicated context of domestic violence by women. In-depth interviews were conducted with 8 female attackers who were ordered to be treated in the correction/healing program for domestic attackers to review their cases. In statements on domestic violence by women reported in the official reports for the judicial authority, I couldn't find much that would have been helpful for understanding the context of violence. The study result suggests that female attackers' violence was caused by a combination of 4 factors: Experience of violence as victims, the degree of acceptance of violence, stereotypes of traditional gender roles and vague ideas of the reality of marriages.
The female attackers who participated in the study became violent after a long period of suppressing their anger, rather than abruptly. Violence was an act of reaction to violence of others, rather than a means to resolve conflicts. Therefore the developing process is not the same as that of male attackers. Unlike male attackers, who become violent more often than women and use violence to control women, female attackers' violence is a resistance to a violent situations rather than a means to control men.
This study raises questions on the general view in which the context of domestic violence by men and women is considered the same and suggests that a higher degree of gender sensitivity would have to be applied regarding the context of domestic violence. The more intimate a relationship is, the more complicated and serious the context. Intimate relationships that take off our masks and reveal us in an unreserved manner can cause, reproduce and spread anger and violence in our society. We should prevent violence in intimate relationships by focusing on the cycle of violence.
Since it was difficult to gain subjects for this study, only 8 women participated in it; therefore, the results of this study cannot be generalized. It may have limits since it focuses on disclosing the stories of the participants. Few personal details were excluded to protect the privacy of the participants.
