The purpose of this paper is to compare each manuscript of ��AhHakPyeon�� which is a Chinese character textbook published by Dasan, Jeong Yak Yong, and to review its literal educational value. Through discussions of this paper, we find the edition of each manuscript, changes of Chinese characters, changes of meaning of Korean words and phonological variations.
It has been known that an 8-final spelling rule was used as the general final spelling rule. However, according to our results, the 7-final spelling rule was used and the syllabication in which stem and ending were clearly used was predominant. In addition, although it did not follow the initial law and the words were written on the basis of original sounds, we found prominent phonological phenomena.
Dasan continued to develop the human-centered ontological world view and applied it to a real life of creating a Chinese character textbook as well as metaphysics while he published two thousands letters of ��AhHakPyeon HunEui��. His consistent philosophy was reflected in the view of literal education for children. It built the solid foundation and could provide a framework for compilation of the silhak thought in the late Joseon dynasty by expanding it to silhak thought and empirical educational philosophy.
