This study examines the Sino-Soviet relationship through the conclusion of treaties, in 1931 to 1941. Following the Manchurian Incident, China and the USSR felt threatened by Japan¡¯s expansion into the continent. Considering difficulties in defending itself against Japan, China wanted to forge cooperation through a treaty with the USSR .
As an all-out Sino-Japanese War broke out, USSR signed a non-aggression pact with China, and provided China with loans and military supplies. Originally, China wanted not only would block the compromise between Japan and the USSR, but also would the USSR directly to fight against Japan as a military mutual treaty. Eventually, the USSR entered the war against Japan at a time when China no longer wanted it to,As the USSR¡¯s participation in the war became a threat to China, China signed the Sino-Soviet Treaty of Friendship and Alliance which promising to give special benefits to the USSR.
