Ahn Hwak(����, 1886-1946)'s career is divided into four, as follow : the first period(1886-1906), from the birth and growth in Seoul to the attendance at Seoul government middle school(���ǹ����ЌWУ). The second(1907-1917), the period working as a teacher of the middle schools in Jinju(�x��) and Masan(�Rɽ) of Gyeongsangnamdo(�c���ϵ�). The third(1918-1924), the period engaging in an independence movement and studying hard the Koreanology. Finally, the fourth period(1925-1946) working as a literary man and writing the books & articles on the Koreanology in Seoul until his death.
He had written about 8 books and over 100 articles on the Koreanology in his life.
Among them, 2 books and about 30 articles is the researches on Korean language. His researches on Korean was based on the Positivism and Practicalism, but he couldn't understand fundamental concepts of modern linguistics and the Positivism. Also, he didn't try the scientific theorization in his works. So he had run into criticism and had been in Coventry from Korean language researchers of those days.
