Evaluating School Performance Using Bayesian Hyper-parameter Estimation Method

Although elaborate school evaluation systems have been constructed to capture school performance, the nature of the school evaluation ultimately depends upon the strengths and weaknesses of the situation specific evaluation that may be influential in shaping one’s expectations for school performance. Thus, this study acknowledges the importance of utilizing different statistical approaches on the evaluation of school performance and shows an alternative to traditional statistical approach for use especially in situations where distinction of performance among schools is vague. The aims of the current study are to describe the hierarchical Bayesian approach revealing differences in school performance clearly and to explore the implications of the results in the context of school evaluation. Finally, we discussed the limitations of this study caused by cross-sectional design, and the follow-up research regarding longitudinal Bayesian.
