This article addresses the entrepreneurial activities of An Jae-Ho, who was one of the most well-known business man of people from Jeju Island in Japan and contributed toward the organic chemistry industry. As the lives of Jeju people living in Japan is regarded as important as ever in the study of contemporary Jeju society, this study will indicate some implication to the scholars who study the significance of the Jeju people living in Jeju in and out of Korea. My study can be summarized as follows.
First, An Jae-Ho economic activities for over 50 years was a important research data for people from Jeju Island in Japan enterprises as well as its entrepreneurs. Second, An Jae-Ho thought that credit was the most important business spirit in his business, and he lived frugally for his whole life based on a diligent and economized spirit. Third, An Jae-Ho supported Jeju society with wide range of educational facilities and equipment as the school sites, construction of the school buildings, library collections, musical instruments, visual aids, statues and towers, school equipments, and gymnasium facilities. Next, to improve educational environment of Jeju, they donated real estate, school facility and equipment, books, along with monument construction and school funds raising. Fifth, An Jae-Ho accumulated his wealth by organic chemistry industry company, and then he contributed his money to local community and showed ethical business of social-oriented or community-based entrepreneurship.
