This is a case study report about the use of foreign words of Japanese origin and their awareness of foreign words among youth in Korea. For the survey, we chose 14 vocabularies, which were classified as food-related vocabularies, everyday life vocabularies, and foreign vogue words. As a result of examining the use rate of each vocabulary, food-related vocabulary had the highest use rate overall. On the other hand, the rate of use of the vocabulary of everyday life is low, which can be considered as the result of a generational change. Foreign vogue words do not seem to last as long as commonly used vogue words. We also asked for individual opinions on foreign words. As a result, positive opinions about foreign words were five times greater than negative opinions. In particular, the overwhelming majority of opinions about foreign words of Japanese origin said, "There is no reason to reject them in the reason of Japanese words.�� No gender differences were found in this respect. With regard to the reasons for the use of foreign words, the result was most favorable to the basic communication function of the language.
