The Early Iron Age and the Proto-Three Kingdoms Period of the Northeast Asia was a critical time when the fundamental changes in the socio-political system and its material bases occurred. The outposts of the Yan(��) state were established into the Liadong(�|�|) the interaction between the central civilization and peripheral chiefdoms began. After the establishment of the Western Han (�h) Empire outpost of Lelang(����, c. 108 B.C.), the inter-regional interaction sphere was expanded to the southern part of the Peninsula and direct interactions between Chinese outposts and other regions intensified. Along the interaction networks, new technologies of iron and ceramic production and the new types of material representations in the elite burials were introduced into the Southeast Korea. This paper have tried to explain the regional differentiation of the technological innovation processes in the ceramic production systems. In the West-central region, based on the careful examination of overlapping traces on the surfaces of the globular jars produced and used in one village during BC 100~250 AD, they were assumed to be provided by the various workshops of which potters individually acquired different levels of the turning and paddling skill. From 300 AD to 400 AD, all vessel classes required for village living got to be manufactured with roughly same forming procedure in a workshop attached to the relatively large village. In the Southeastern area, most Wajil vessels, except utilitarian globular jars, were formed by hand-building techniques without paddling and wheel-throwing, and elaborately finished by the time-consuming methods, slipping, polishing, and decorating with incised or painted designs. Especially in Gyeongju area, the elaborate Wajil vessels were produced in large amount to fill up the accessory chamber of elite burials. The Wajil ware production system, therefore, would had been supported by regional elites as a prestige economy.
