Knowing the death penalty, why the death penalty has to be abolished, which problems the death penalty has, can help students to have an opposite attitude towards the death penalty.
Introduction
I. Attention Grabber
A. How many of you support the death penalty?
B. How many of you are not sure which side you are on?
C. According to 2006 ABC News/Washington post poll, over 65% of Americans support the death penalty.
D. As of 2008, people who support the death penalty are drastically decreased by up to 47%.
E. A lot of people still support the death penalty.
II. Thesis Statement
A. According to a report issued by facts.com, over 1000 criminals are executed after 1976 the year the Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty after a four year suspension.
B. The U.S is the only Western democracy still practicing the death penalty.
C. I am a strong opponent of the death penalty, and today I want to explain why we should abolish the death penalty immediately.참고자료
