"It's a semi-truck that's flipped over the bridge. The lady's screaming, like, it's a very, very bad..." one caller says.
The crash happened the afternoon of March 1 on the bridge that connects downtown Louisville to Jeffersonville across the Ohio River.
Police said a driver hit a stalled car, crossed the center line and then plowed into a semi. The semi then went over the edge with the driver stuck in the cab.
One of those people reportedly has life-threatening injuries.
The semi-truck driver, a woman named Sydney, was pulled to safety after about 40 minutes by Rescue Company 2. Family says she is recovering at home, and lives in the region.
After the crash, the bridge was closed until the following evening. As of Tuesday, one southbound driving lane and the pedestrian sidewalk remain closed.
KYTC says the timeline for reopening depends on securing and fabricating steel to repair the damage.
