Efforts underway to improve safety and accessibility across downtown Louisville
The community provided feedback on the Downtown Street Network Plan Tuesday, which aims to make streets in downtown Louisville and NuLu safer.
Designed with input from data and community stakeholders, the initial design concepts aim to reduce crashes and provide safer routes for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. The proposed improvements stretch from the Ohio River to Broadway, Baxter and 10th streets.
"Our job is to create a comprehensive plan that the city can then implement over the next few years hopefully over five years to essentially eliminate almost every one way street in downtown while also introducing a bicycle network that's kind of lacking now," said Jeff Speck, of the urban planning firm Speck Dempsey.
Speck says converting one-way streets into two-way conditions can reduce speeds along streets and help enhance safety.

It's a plan some drivers say they support.
맥스카지노The better it is for people to walk around our city, it맥스카지노s easier to attract tourists. It맥스카지노s nicer to live here. We have a nicer reputation outside the city. And also, people deserve to live in nice, safe cities where they have multiple options for how to get around,맥스카지노 said Jenna Peterson.
