IMAGES: 40 years of art created for & inspired by Bernheim Forest
What inspires art better than nature? Each year, Bernheim Forest in Bullitt County invites artists of all kinds from all over to live onsite and let its beauty serve as inspiration.
The Artist in Residence Program began in 1980. This year is the program's big 40th anniversary.
To make this one extra special, Bernheim is looking for a regional artist to take the slot. Only people who live in Kentucky, and Clark and Floyd counties in Indiana will be considered. So here's how it works, the artist(s) selected will get "comfortable rustic" housing, access to studio space and financial and staff support.
In exchange, they'll create a new, Bernheim-inspired work to give to the forest. The artist will also get $2,000. Registration closed Monday.
We're celebrating the storied program by looking at some of its greatest installations.
