Jefferson County Public Schools will remain open, despite a person in Jefferson County contracting the coronavirus.On Sunday, Gov. Andy Beshear announced the state has three more cases.He confirmed the patients live in Jefferson, Fayette and Harrison counties. All patients will remain in isolation from the public. According to a letter from the school district, classes will be in session unless JCPS receives new information and guidance from the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health.Since there is a case of the virus in Jefferson County, the district has decided to enact a Level 5 Pandemic Preparedness plan."Principals and school administrators continue to work with our custodial staff to make sure all of our buildings are clean and disinfected and students and staff are being reminded of hand hygiene along with proper cough etiquette," the letter reads.Officials said they are waiting on more information regarding the circumstances of the COVID-19 case. Mayor Greg Fischer will hold a Monday morning press conference with members of JCPS in attendance, U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth's office, the University of Louisville and others from the health community.
